El retorno del sol (the return of the sun), Jujuy (Argentina)

Today, it was the longest day in my country and the shortest here in Argentina. I was lucky to be invited to photograph the ‘Inti Raymi’, a celebration in Tilcara (province Jujuy) which marks the beginning of the indigeneous New Year, the beginning of a new agricultural cycle. A celebration of the return of the sun (‘El retorno del Sol’). Carefully selected seeds and ‘food items’ were presented to the sun, in the hope the next agricultural year will be a good one.
